I refer to the letter published in your publication last week Thursday (LETTER: Jewish woman attacked outside Parliament) and note the blatant inaccuracies and falsehoods presented by the writer, who claims to represent the Jewish community.

The incident he refers to was seemingly a planned provocation by supporters of Zionist Israel, who thrive on accusations of anti-Semitism. The woman had in fact assaulted a pro-Palestinian and antigenocide protester before she was redirected away from the protesters.

If her name is known to the writer and the SAPS, we will lay charges against her for assault and affray. The letter refers to her as a Jewish person, but it was clear that she identified as a supporter of Israel rather than a Jewish person. Many pro-Palestinian protesters in our group are Jewish, and the pro-Israel supporters who gather in front of Parliament on Fridays claim to be Christian. Her Jewishness was never the issue, but rather her despicable support for Israel’s genocide.

We also note the other incident referred to in the letter, where a man was supposedly assaulted. In this case, the aggrieved person had punched a female protester before being pushed away. If he lays charges, we will lay counter-charges against him.

There have been other incidents where assaults were carried out by pro-Israel supporters on members of our group, and we are gathering evidence in this regard.

We see the letter as a typical response from Zionists who claim victimhood while perpetrating the worst crimes against humanity in Palestine. Their crimes have been submitted for prosecution to the International Court of Justice by the South African government.

In this context, any support for Israel’s genocide and occupation of Palestine must be regarded as the worst form of hate speech, which should be prosecuted in the same way that the propagation of Nazism and the Holocaust is prosecuted.

The SABJD should be proscribed as an organisation for supporting and funding the genocide and occupation of Palestinians.
