Cape Town - Your edition on Wednesday “Gordhan dodges Scopa meeting over controversial SAA deal as he flies to Kenya on state visit” refers.

The majority of the standing committee meetings have been online.

These meetings invariably don’t take all that long and for Minister Gordhan to dodge the meeting when he could quite easily have gone online in Kenya and spent an hour facing some cross examination is ridiculous.

The minister was fully aware of the time and date of the meeting and could quite easily have accommodated them if he wished to do so.

The lame excuse does not ring true. The parliamentary committees are always more than willing to shuffle time around in their meetings to accommodate the minister.

In this particular case the minister was not willing to shuffle his time around to accommodate the committee.

To my mind this shows an enormous amount of disdain to the parliamentary committee and parliamentary process.
