Durban — Despite having no leadership in KwaZulu-Natal, the ActionSA Zululand region continues with party activities.

The party regional chairperson Kgobakanang Ramapuputla said the disbandment and spate of resignations from the party did not deter him and his regional leadership from continuing with party activities.

Ramapuputla said they were launching branches every week in the region in preparation for the 2024 general elections.

“Despite the mass resignations and disbandment of provincial structure, it has been business as usual for us in Zululand. We were not disturbed or affected by what happened in the provincial leadership. The party is very much alive here in Zululand,” said Ramapuputla.

After the mass resignations of regional structures only Zululand, Amajuba (Newcastle) and Ilembe (KwaDukuza) leadership remained.

The party’s national spokesperson Lerato Ngobeni said it was not true only these regions were functioning saying all the regions in the province were active, adding that (their) chairperson may have resigned but that did not mean there were no structures.

She said they would announce the provincial chairperson in due course.

“This week we are going to announce the Free State chairperson and we will move to KwaZulu-Natal. It is important for us to have leadership in that province because it’s one of the important provinces for us,” said Ngobeni.

After the mass resignations, the national leadership disbanded the provincial structure which was under the secretary Bongani Caluza.

The party has not had a chairperson for months after the resignation of Musa Kubheka. Despite resignation, Kubheka remained a councillor in eThekwini.
