It’s fireworks season and medication to keep your pets calm is available – SPCA Durban

Durban – With fireworks season coming up soon, the Durban SPCA has advised pet owners to keep their pets calm and indoors.

Diwali, Guy Fawkes and New Year’s Eve are drawing near.

SPCA Durban said their stock of Anxitane and Rescue has arrived should you wish to purchase some to keep your pets calm.

It said Anxitane dosage is as follows:

  • Dogs less than 10kg: Small – Half a tablet twice a day.
  • 10-25kg: medium/large – half a tablet twice a day.
  • Greater than 25kg medium/large – 1 tablet twice a day.
  • Small cats – half a tablet once a day.

It was recommended that you treat your pets for 5 days before fireworks events, the SPCA said.

SPCA Durban added that if pets have not been microchipped, pet owners should make an appointment with them to do so by phoning 031 579 6547/12.
