DURBAN - PREMIER Sihle Zikalala has congratulated KZN Miss SA top 10 finalist for an achievement that is a “testament to the beauty which defines the province”.

Lalela Mswane, 24, hails from KwaSokhulu in Richards Bay. She is an accomplished ballerina, a model and an LLB graduate.

“Halala Ntombi Ka Mswane. We urge you to enjoy yourself as you focus on this critical stage of the competition. As you rise to meet the world, please be assured that you have the entire province behind you,” said Zikalala.

“This is a magnificent achievement that has already put KwaZulu-Natal on the map.”

He said her achievement came at a time when the province and the country needed healing and uplifting and positive news, following the recent unfortunate and challenging episode that the province had gone through.

“Whatever happens, we are proud that Lalela Mswane has already served as ambassador for our province.

“She has showcased its beauty and hospitality. We look forward to her role in the recovery and rebuilding of our economy as we rise from recent challenges like Covid-19 and the destructive wave of civil unrest.”

Mswane has since founded Lalela the Mswane Foundation, a non-profit organisation that focuses on youth empowerment.

“Halala Ntombi ka Mswane, the sky is the limit. Enjoy this crucial stage of the competition and let your beauty and character shine as you look to conquer Miss SA.”

The premier hoped she would be supported in her quest to use the Miss SA platform to address unemployment, especially among the youth, and that she would win the coveted Miss SA crown.

The 63rd edition of Miss South Africa is on Saturday, October 16, at Cape Town’s Grand West Arena.

The top three winners will represent the country at the world’s three most prestigious pageants: Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss Supranational.
