Durban — A suspected hit man working as a bodyguard who was arrested with a firearm and ammunition is expected to appear in court on Monday following.
Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said that in the early hours of Saturday morning, around 3am, the King Cetshwayo District Crime Intelligence and Essential Infrastructure Task Team conducted an intelligence-driven operation at Nhlabane Reserve in KwaMbonambi, northern KwaZulu-Natal where they were searching for a suspect who is wanted for various crimes including murder.
“Investigations revealed that the suspect is working as a bodyguard for a businessman. His firearm was subject to ballistic testing to determine if he is linked to murder cases that were reported recently,” Ngcobo said.
She said that during the operation, a 36-year-old man was searched and found in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
He was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition and was detained at KwaMbonambi SAPS.
“He will appear before KwaMbonambi Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 31, 2022,” Ngcobo said.
