The 2025 World Sports Betting Cape Town Met made sure to bring out Mzansi’s top celebrities to the Hollywoodbets Kenilworth Racecourse.

Stars such as top rappers, musicians and presenters added an extra flair to the event, making it a star-stuffed event. In recent years, the Met seemed to have lost its spark but this year’s guest list and attendees gave the event vibrancy and showed why the event keeps returning.

Renowned presenters Siv Ngesi and Jeannie D hosted the event. Speaking to IOL, Ngesi expressed his excitement, saying he was thrilled to be part of the experience and couldn’t believe he was paid to do such enjoyable work.

Ngesi donned a classic black and white suit by Craig Port and had nothing but praise for the fashion on display, particularly complimenting the women’s outfits.

TV presenter Roxy Burger wore an olive green leather dress by Cape Town designer Fredrich by Dinka and she practised a little sustainable fashion by hiring the dress through Big Bad Batch instead of buying a new dress. “I’m having the best time, and I just got here,” Burger told IOL.

Rapper and podcaster Zingah wore a black velvet two-piece by Luxury Recycle and was happy to be attending the Met, learning about the various elements from the horses to the entertainment that make the event.

Presenter Maps Maponyane wore a brown, deconstructed linen suit from Viviers, he explained that he wanted an effortless chic look that taps into the Couture Unleashed theme.

Having been a couple of years since he last attended the Met, Maponyane said yes to attending as it’s a good way to start the year having a good vibrant time. “It’s fun, entertaining, the hospitality is beautiful and it’s a great way to reconnect and get going.”

“Big Brother Titans” winner and media personality Khosi Twala explained that when she heard Couture Unleashed, she imagined, “go crazy, go wild, almost like there’s no theme but more of your personality”. Twala went for a look that tapped into the classy, boss lady that she is.

Presenter Jamie-Lee Domburg’s outfit had all the drama from her hat to her skirt, going for a bold red outfit. “The hat said we are serving drama for the Met.” The presenter told designer Victori to unleash her magic and let her know she wants to be comfortable and in the Cape Town heat.

Domburg told IOL that one of the reasons she loves the Met is people always show up, whether it be for the fashion, the horses or just to mix and mingle. “People in Cape Town are always excited, and it sets the tone for the rest of the year.”

Singer Thabsie was dressed in her favourite colour pink in a dress designed by Eric by Design/Athenkosi. Multi-award-winning transgender activist Yaya Mavundla wore a dress by one of her favourite designers Gavin Rajah and was excited for the fashion showcase that took place.

Rapper and presenter Nomuzi ‘Moolie’ Mabena looked like a golden goddess in her look by Unlocked by Dudu and a headpiece by Afrodizzyacts. Moozlie was invited to attend the Met by rapper K.O and she couldn’t pass on the opportunity.

K.O put together a suit from Karl Lagerfeld and looked dapper and he shared that he said yes to attending the event as he loves fashion and the networking opportunities that come with the event.

“I don’t only come to rub shoulders with people in my industry, I’m a serial entrepreneur so who knows who I might bump into here and pitch some ideas.

“For anyone that’s trying to get somewhere in life and country, make those sacrifices, if you need to be in certain rooms, you are not only there for content but you are there to network and get some new contacts.”

Legendary comedian Marc Lottering rocked a light green suit by Sartotial Cloth, a local Cape Town brand, making his return to the Met in nine years. “It used to be an important event on the Cape Town calendar, so I thought it would be great to pop in before I get my SASSA card, just to see how it goes,” said Lottering.

Presenter Pamela Mtanga was attending the Met for the first time and was attending as a field presenter for S3. She opted to wear an item from her closet, restyling it to fit the occasion. “I am one person who constantly has a new event coming, so I’m constantly looking for ways I can recycle my outfits and make them exciting every single time.”

Reality TV star and businesswoman Beverly Steyn is another celebrity who went into their fabulous closet and found something that would be suitable for the event. Steyn shared with IOL that her closet is filled with stunning items for her travels around the world.

The Cape Met was a truly fabulous affair and ended with a bang off an after party that featured performances from South Africa’s top artists Goodluck, DJ Zinhle and Zakes Bantwini who had everyone dancing the night away.
