Liam Payne reportedly left behind a finished autobiographical album that may be released posthumously.

The tragic One Direction singer, 31, died on Wednesday after he plunged 45 feet to his death from the balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, and he said to have been set to put out the record earlier this year before it was hit by a string of delays – including two spells in hospital for the star when he was stricken by kidney problems.

It could now be released posthumously by Liam’s former label Capitol Records, according to The Sun.

The album’s lead single ‘Teardrops’ was released in March, and the newspaper said its tracks are filled with “haunting” lyrics.

A source told the paper: “Liam was always working on songs on his laptop and was in the process of setting up a home studio in Miami but the record was essentially done.

“Most of the tracks were heard by the label and played to his team.

“Lyrically it’s heavy but Liam was really proud of it and was keen to open up so others going through similar things didn’t feel alone.”

Liam said in March about the album: “Every one of these songs is a story from my life.

“For the first time you really get a picture of what it was like for me each day of making this record like this.

“This album is literally this last year for me, how I was feeling on those days is each record.”

Liam’s first album, 2019’s ‘LP1’, gave him two solo Top 10 hits.

It is not clear exactly what time the singer fell to his death on Wednesday, but at 5.07pm police reported an individual had plunged from the third floor and urgently requested an ambulance.

Paramedics arrived at the hotel at 5.11pm and Liam was pronounced dead.

Witnesses have said the singer was seen arguing with an unidentified woman in the hotel lobby before his death.
