There is an overall hype and excitement in South Africa and around the world as the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, gets underway this week, with the first match between Russia and Saudi Arabia on Thursaday.

Opening the prestigious ceremony at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium, is 90s pop icon, Robbie Williams, who will sing to an incredible crowd of more than 80 000 football fans, and billions of viewers around the world.

“I’m so happy and excited to be going back to Russia for such a unique performance. I’ve done a lot in my career, and opening the FIFA World Cup to football fans in the stadium and many millions all over the world is a boyhood dream,” said Williams in a statement to FIFA.

There will also be around 500 dancers, gymnasts and trampolinists performing in an opening extravaganza that will pay homage to all things Russian.

David and his three sons were at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. It’s safe to say that the football legend will show up for the opening ceremony and a few matches thereafter.

The 'Wild Thoughts' singer attended the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final in Brazil, where she presented the trophy for "The Man of the Match" to Mario Götze.

The star was also photographed between Lucas Podolski and Bastian Schweinsteiger kissing the World Cup trophy. She has a strong passion for the sport and we predict that the Barbados singer will be present for many of the matches this year.

The royal siblings are huge soccer fans and Prince Harry attend in 2014. He missed out on this year’s FA Cup due to his recently marriage to actress Meghan Markle, but it is mostly likely to see him at many of the games this year. A bonus will be if his gorgeous wife attends with him.
