Audi's strikingly elegant new A3 sedan is now available with some serious entertainment value connected to the right pedal. The S3 sedan has just been launched in South Africa, for those willing to part with R529 500 for a potent compact four-door.
Like its S3 hatch and Sportback siblings, which you can read more about HERE , the sedan is powered by the VW Group's 2-litre turbopetrol motor, which has been detuned from 221kW to 206kW as a precaution against the possible effects of our hot climate. Maximum power is wound out at 5500rpm, while its 380Nm peak twisting force is available between 1800 and 5500rpm.
The S3 sedan, says Audi, will bolt from 0-100km/h in 5.0 seconds on the dot and the top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h.
Claimed combined (unrealistic laboratory) fuel consumption stands at 7.0 litres per 100km.
Power is distributed between all four wheels by Audi's quattro all-wheel drive system and the driver can vary the characteristics of the accelerator, steering and gearbox through the drive select system.
Key standard kit includes 18-inch alloys, Xenon Plus headlights, sports seats upholstered in a Trophy Cloth/leather combo, a sports steering wheel with flappy paddles and cruise control.
