Frankfurt Motor Show - Car companies are usually deliberately vague about the future production models that their concept cars will inspire, but not in this case.
While unveiling the updated version of its C-HR Concept, Toyota announced that it is currently working on a new compact SUV that will slot below the Rav4. Yet though Toyota says this vehicle signifies its commitment to produce such a vehicle, that's not to say that the showroom model is going to look as radical as this.
Given that the C-HR doesn't exactly appear very showroom-ready, at least by today's showroom standards, you can expect the production model to be toned down quite a bit, although many of the design cues are surely hinted at in this concept.
Toyota says that the updated showcar is "more representative" of the production car than the first C-HR Concept that was revealed a year back. The concept has at least grown back doors in its latest evolution, which is surely quite telling as school-run-ability is a big selling point in the compact SUV segment.
The company also promises that its Juke-rivalling showroom car, which will be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year, will provide an "engaging driving experience" as it is, in Toyota's exact words, "the next rendition of the promise by Toyota's global president Akio Toyoda to build always better cars that bring the fun back to driving."
