It's looking all the more likely that Audi's modern reincarnation of the original Quattro will make it to production.
After speaking with company insiders, Autocar has reported that Audi board members are set to evaluate an advanced prototype of the car before making a final call on its production status.
Not just a rebodied S5, however, sources indicate that it'll make extensive use of lightweight materials, including numerous carbon body panels sitting upon an aluminium spaceframe platform.
The prototype does use the Audi S5's drivetrain and quattro all-wheel drive system. Power will likely come from the most powerful version of Audi's turbocharged five-cylinder engine to date, the concept car you see here having been credited with a 300kW output.
