Four people were killed when they were struck by lightning in the Port St John's area on Sunday afternoon, Eastern Cape police said on Tuesday.
“A 17 and 18-year-old boy were playing soccer in the Maratshu area when they were struck dead by lightning,” said spokesman Captain Mduduzi Godlwana.
A 70-year-old woman was sitting in the entrance of her hut, in the same area, and was also struck dead.
An eight-year-old boy was herding cattle in the Qwasa area when he too was struck by lightning and was immediately killed. - Sapa
