Relationships in South Africa have taken no prisoners, and this time it involves motivational speaker and “man of God” Siya Mhlongo, so severe that blood was shed.

In a disturbing video circulating on various social media platforms, the partner of UKhozi FM presenter Mhlongo, only known as Njabulo, is seen bleeding from the face after he was allegedly assaulted by him.

According to reports, the incident took place after alleged infidelity.

It is alleged that Mhlongo unleashed a bottle of an alcoholic beverage on Njabulo.

In the video footage, Njabulo’s face is seen covered in blood with his hand holding some sort of toilet paper full of blood while he proceeds to record him from his cellphone.

“Angifuni ukuhamba nawe (loosely translated as: I don’t want to go with you).

Njabulo then walks towards the driver’s side while Mhlongo is seen visibly upset.

“Njabulo stop it, Njabulo stop it,” shouts Mhlongo.

Njabulo repeats that he does not want to go with him with Mhlongo desperately begging him to stop it.

In another clip, Mhlongo told Njabulo to get into the car so that he could take him to hospital. Again Njabulo told him he was bleeding profusely and did not want to go with him.

Njabulo showed the passenger’s seat covered with his blood.

NotInMyName International, an advocacy group, said they condemn any form of violence, be it gender based violence (GBV) or anything else.

“There is no reason why anybody should get this violent to anybody. We are calling on all law enforcement agencies to investigate this matter fully and the full might of the law and action must take place,” said NotInMyName International spokesperson Themba Masango.

He urged the alleged perpetrator to hand himself in to police.

“We call on the alleged perpetrator to give himself over to police, work together with them so that we can get to the bottom of it. We hope that the victim will get a speedy recovery,” said Masango.

Efforts to reach Mhlongo were unsuccessful at the time of going to print.

“Ukhozi FM management would like to confirm that Siya Mhlongo has requested to take some time off from work to deal with a personal matter.

“During this period, Zama Mseleku will be standing in for him” said Mmoni Seapolelo SABC spokesperson.

“It must be noted that management is also aware of the alleged video and at this stage would like to be given an opportunity to address the matter internally in line with SABC processes.

“In addition, if the matter is reported to law enforcement authorities, management will also respect this process,” said Seapolelo.
