Reality TV star and popular sangoma, Gogo Skhotheni, announced the untimely death of her two-year-old son, Monde Jr Shange on Tuesday morning.
Gogo Skhotheni, real name Tumi Motsoeneng, confirmed her son died on Monday afternoon at Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital, Johannesburg.
Through her reality show on Moja Love, Gogo Skhotheni’s supporters knew that Monde Jr had been sick since birth, following her son’s premature birth at seven months.
Monde Jr was born without the tube that transports food to the stomach, hence, a machine was used to feed the little lad. He has been in and out of hospital since he was born, he even spent his last birthday at the hospital.
Speaking to TshisaLive, Gogo Skhotheni said: “It has been a difficult journey for all of us as a family but life has to carry on. He was born without a tube that transports food to the stomach so he had major surgeries. Doctors tried to make sure he could eat, but they could not so they ended up putting in a tube and he is using a machine to eat.”
In a statement, the Motsoeneng family and Gogo Skhotheni’s husband’s family, asked for privacy through this sad period.
“The families kindly request privacy as they navigate this deep and painful loss. We ask for your understanding and compassion in giving them the space they need during this difficult time of grieving,” the families said.
Quoting Psalm 23:4, the families: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and staff, they comfort me.”
