There is no doubt that Covid-19 has forced people out of their comfort zones and had them look for other means to sustain themselves.
Local gospel star Thinah Zungu is one of the music sensations who chose to venture into business, launching his own company TZ Construction which has generated employment for people.
Zungu is popularly known as a performing artist, who is big in mesmerising crowds with his soulful gospel music, but as a result of the pandemic he had to do more than what he was known for to keep afloat.
He opened up about how the whole journey in business has taught him the importance of not being dependant on just your daily work.
“The pandemic has taught us that we shouldn’t rely solely on our daily work. As much as there were a lot of challenges and changes in our lives, we were able to still be alive and we learnt a lot of new things that we could do,” the gospel star said.
With many local artists moving towards the business side of things, the Ekugcineni hitmaker has also been added to the list. His move into the business industry has created employment for over 50 people.
“I got the opportunity to help put bread on the table, not only for the back-up singers working for me, but also for the workers in my construction company. About 58 families have been fed through being in this space.”
The renowned gospel star says the business idea came to light after going home to renovate his family’s house before Covid-19. The star said he aimed to continue helping people through business so that they can also influence others to do the same thing.
