‘Glamour’, one of SA’s leading women’s magazines, hosted its highly anticipated Women of the Year Awards (#WOTY2024) on Saturday under the inspiring theme, “Game Changers Edition”.
This prestigious gathering took place at the luxurious Summer Place in Hyde Park, with an impressive guest list that included some of the country’s leading business figures, creative talents, and influential personalities.
The evening was dedicated to honouring extraordinary women making significant strides in various sectors, redefining success, and breaking down barriers across industries. As guests arrived in their finest attire for the glamorous pink carpet affair, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and camaraderie.
Amongst the array of honourees, Makhadzi swept the stage with the Entertainer Game Changer Award, captivating audiences with her energetic performance and unwavering determination in the music industry.
Kamo Mphela was similarly recognised, taking home the Musician Game Changer Award, a testament to her impact on modern South African music.
Other notable winners included Kat van Duinen, who won the Fashion Designer Game Changer Award, and DJ Zinhle, who received the prestigious Editor’s Award for her contributions as a multifaceted entrepreneur.
The awards also showcased excellence in sectors that resonate with many South Africans.
The Finance Game Changer Award, presented by ABSA, honoured an awe-inspiring female leader in finance, while the Technology Game Changer Award, sponsored by VOLVO, celebrated Serisha Barrat for her groundbreaking work in tech innovation.
An exciting moment of the night was the presentation of the Courage in Beauty Award, given to the legendary Leleti Khumalo, recognising her strength and advocacy in the beauty industry.
Notably, the event highlighted winners from various fields, with Shannon Dougall receiving the Sustainability Game Changer Award, showcasing the important strides made towards sustainable practices in the industry.
Additional accolades included the Cultural Game Changer Award, won by Temi Adenij, and the Sportsperson Game Changer Award presented to the inspirational Desiree Ellis, both showcasing the diverse talents being celebrated.
