MUSIC fans of Chutney & Nagara Music Nite will be happy to hear that the stage show is making a comeback on Friday, December 3. It will be held at The Globe at Suncoast.

Presented by Showtime Productions and hosted by MC Allan Chetty, the line up consists of KZN’s famous chutney and nagara group alongside dancers, and Flash Entertainment.

The flash group has performed since the 1990s, and have been showcasing their talent all over South Africa. They have also won multiple awards, including the recent South African Traditional Music Award (Satma) for their live performances.

The show will feature musical traditional folk performances and a comedy line up with comedians Carvin Goldstone and Senzo Mthethwa.

Mike Narsey, of Showtime Productions, said he looked forward to the event as he was passionate about the project which was educational and entertaining.

“These types of traditional events were popular among certain Hindi-speaking communities for generations, and they still have a great following from the young modern to the elderly,” said Narsey.

Narsey said that since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, the entertainment industry had suffered because of the lockdown restrictions. He said in 2020, they had to cancel their International Bollywood Concert and refund all the people who had purchased the tickets for the shows.

“I am excited at the return of the Chutney & Nagara Nite live on stage after such a long time. I am hopeful that we will have a good turnout this year,” he said.

Tickets are available on the Computicket website. It ranges in price from R117 to R200.
